soc read 2016

Organised and overseen by Franz Chapman.

The first Save Our Cozies – Readathon, started at midnight on 15th/16th of July and ended 24 hours later at midnight on 16th/17th of July 2016.

127 people participated, readers and authors mingling together and having lots and lots of fun and laughter.  With hourly challenges, Q&A sessions with authors like Molly MacRae, Edith Maxell to name a couple that come to mind (I’m still trying to get over the blur of yesterday!), and a host of prizes donated by authors.

It didn’t matter whether you came for the whole thing or just an hour.  Nor how many books or pages you read or listened to, taking part was all that counted…showing our love and enjoyment for the ‘Cozy’ crime/mystery genre that Penguin Random House/Berkley Prime Crime has decided to massively cut back on.  Cancelling out over 20 plus cozy series since March this year.

A Big Thank You to Franz Chapman, who has spent months of her time organising this event, chatting to authors, getting donations and planning challenges for it.

Making it a Fun and Enjoyable experience, that ran smoothly from start to finish.
